Your first concert? Are you attending an OSQ concert for the first time? Prepare yourself for a moving and exciting experience. Learn more about Maestro Yoav TalmiBefore the concertWhen you take your seat in the concert hall, you will notice that certain OSQ musicians are already on stage. They are "warming up" by practicing on their own. A few minutes before the concert, once all musicians have taken their places on stage, a musician holding a violin walks on stage and everything becomes quiet: he is the violin soloist. When he reaches his place, he remains standing, turns to the oboist and signals him to play note A so that the musicians can tune their instruments. In the event a pianist is the orchestra's soloist, the violin soloist will play A on the piano himself rather than ask the oboist. At the OSQ, the wind instruments tune up first, followed by the strings. Once all musicians have tuned their instruments, the conductor will make his entrance on stage.
